Administrative History: The Northeast Community Organization is an umbrella community organization established in 1970 to help maintain the stability of the neighborhoods bounded by the City line on the north, Greenmount Avenue and York Road on the west, 33rd Street on the south, and Hillen Road and Perring Parkway on the east. The organization was known for use of confrontation in the early 1970s aimed at realtors attempting to use racial blockbusting methods. Its battles against the realtors helped forge the Northeast Real Estate Conservation Program, now called Northeast, Inc., which preserved the integrated nature of the neighborhoods.
