Commission on Government Efficiency & Economy ( CGEE)
History: Founded in 1929 its predecessor was a volunteer commission on efficiency and economy which functioned from 1923 to 1927. This volunteer commision was concerned with public administration policy and practice, cost, management and operation of Maryland Government. The CGEE's mission after 1929 was to conduct impartial research on local and state government in order to effect higher standards of performance in conducting government affairs. It also sought to stimulate citizen participation by informing citizens about local government affairs.Holdings: Minutes, correspondence, adminstrative files, financial records, research reports, newspaper clippings, and publications.
